Othoniel Jean-Michel

Jean-Michel Othoniel - Colliers / Le collier cicatrice (signed) - museum Dhondt-Dhaenens 2001

Jean-Michel Othoniel's necklaces sparkle in the sunlight, hang from trees in the garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation and nestle around a fountain at the Alhambra. Seductive and beautiful, they are astonishingly large, made for giants from shimmering Murano glass.
Othoniel made 1001 cords for as many people present at the Europride parade in Paris in 1997. 1001 ropes means 1001 nights and 1001 encounters with as many people as possible. In exchange for a rope, Othoniel took a photo and then tied them together in a new rope, creating a new link. Random, but at the same time open to new relationships and new discoveries.
Published for the Colliers de Jean-Michel Othoniel exhibition at the Musée Dhondt-Dhaenens, Deurle, Belgium in 2001.
Includes a CD-ROM Le collier cicatrice, numbered and signed by the artist.
